Burgers: Aromatic Asian Burgers (Abalos Style)

Nov 03, 2010 Wow!!! This was great, though I tweaked it a bit... 1/2lb each ground chuck, ground sirloin, and ground pork A pretty nice Japanese sesame oil. Added 1/2 table spoon hot Thai chili oil Diced red onion and garlic rather than the powdered stuff. Added an egg and some Italian bread crumbs as the mixture was a little wet. I also let the meat sit for half an hour while my side cooked (Honey Roasted Red Potatoes found on this site) Finally, I seared each patty on high and finished off in the oven. I will definitely make this again. Lots of flavor, great aroma. Paired great with Andrew Will Semillon...

Sandwiches and Wraps: Hamburgers Chili Dog Style

Jun 26, 2011 I've never had chili burgers before but made these for a neighborhood cookout. I only had hamburger buns, so I used those, but think they would probably taste the same. I don't really like canned chili, so I threw a pot together with Chili-O seasoning packet and it came out very good. I also added some Montreal Steak Seasoning to the ground beef, since I use that on just about everything and love the flavor. I offered the recipe with chili on the side, but almost everyone put the chili on their burger and raved about the taste. I might try this at some point in the future with sloppy joes as the topping. Great idea!

Stuffed Peppers: Cajun Style Stuffed Peppers

Jan 01, 2009 This was awesome food for a family that was raised on Louisiana cooking! However, after cooking this, I will make some changes next time. First of all, 2-1/2 cups chicken broth made the stuffing mixture way too soupy. I felt like if I let it "cook until thick" the shrimp would be overcooked and the rice too done, So, I ended up using a slotted spoon to drain off liquid as I stuffed the peppers. I also used less Creole seasoning (I used 2 teaspoons) because I felt like it would be too salty otherwise. I'm glad I made that decision as the final mixture bordered on being a little salty. All in all, though, this was super tasty!

Steaks and Chops: Pork Chops German Style

Jul 14, 2003 This recipe sounded really quick, easy, and good. My husband and I both like mustard so I was excited about it, but I think that cooking it in the soup took away most of the mustard's flavor. I might make this again, but they tasted mostly like chicken and rice soup, not like mustardy pork chops. Also, the cooking time was not long enough if you're using pork chops with a bone.

Roasts: Italian Style Pot Roast

Apr 14, 2009 I only had a few items in my pantry and went in search of something I could make with crushed tomatoes and a pot roast... well this recipe made it to the top of the list because it sounded so darned good. Well, not only did it satisfy the ingredient search, but the tummies of me, my fiance and his hard-to-please-teenager son. If a 15-year-old asks for you to make it again, you know it was a hit! So, thanks for this recipe. I altered this to a crock-pot version, and skipped the corn starch phase. By making it in the crock pot, it's now a quick and easy meal and it's ready when everyone is back from work. I also served it more like a pot roast and served it with a side dish of elbow macaroni and used the sauce from the crock pot as it's gravy and then had some hard italian bread and it was totally yummy!

Slow Cooker Recipes: Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Oct 01, 2006 Incredible. I'm from San Diego, so must, must, MUST have lots of flavor and spice in my meat, 'cause I'm used to it! Can't throw a rock without running into authentic Mexican food here. The flavor of this is just like that juicy, spiced shredded beef you dream of. Not-blow-your-head-off hot to my palette. Just right. Cooking time: using a 3 pounder, we cooked 8 hours on low overnight. At 8 hours, the meat was falling apart; removed it, shredded with two forks, spooned off the fat in the Crock pot, removed a majority of the onions/peppers via a slotted spoon, returned mixture to Crock Pot juice and cooked on low for 1 1/2 hours. This is important; it allows the spiced juice that has formed overnight to really get in that meat. Spices: used a 5 oz. bottle of Tapatio hot sauce. Increased chili powder to 1 TBS and added 1 1/2 tsp. of cumin, because what's Mex without cumin? Green peppers: used de-seeded chopped fresh jalapenos. Added a beef boullion cube like other posters recommended. When you replace the beef, now shredded, into the pot to simmer, add 1/2 tsp. of additional cumin and 1 tsp. of paprika. Trust me, this is key. Best part: your first meal of the morning can be Machaca; combine a handful of shredded beef, 4 eggs (beaten), 1/2 cup of veggies of your choice (we used onion/yellow pepper), stir in pan till done, spoon into ripped up flour tortillas and eat.

Ribs: Italian Country Style Ribs

Jul 10, 2007 Very easy to make! Next time I'm going to reduce the water. I added 1/2 can of tomato sauce, 1/2 chopped onion, two cloves of garlic - minced, 2 chopped tomatoes, and a couple of dashes of chili powder, salt and pepper. When I browned the ribs, I also seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and chili powder. I served it over some whole wheat spaghetti noodles, and for the carb conscious I served the ribs (hardly any extra sauce) on some roasted zucchini. Very tasty!

Meatloaf: Italian Style Meatloaf I

Jan 11, 2006 HOLY COW! This is a fantastic meatloaf recipe. Do yourself a favor though. Use a non-stick meatloaf pan with a drainage insert so as to allow the grease from the hamburger and water from the toms to escape. Otherwise, it'll end up too moist to the point of falling apart. I baked mine for about 1:20, removing the foil and frosting the top with ketchup the last ten minutes. Served with egg noodles, buttered with parsley and Parmesan cheese, outstanding!

Ribs: BBQ Country Style Ribs

Jan 06, 2004 Okay, can I just say...Y-U-M?!?!?!?!?!?!?! These ribs were absolutely delicious! My local store had the country style pork ribs on sale, so I stocked up my freezer, and boy am I glad I did now that I have this great recipe!!! My husband absolutely loved them as well! Instead of just the ribs with BBQ sauce poured over them (which isn't a bad thing!), the tender meat had this subtle taste of garlic and lemon going all through it! I used a large non-stick roasting pan, so that each rib wasn't touching. I rubbed them generously with kosher salt and minced garlic (from the jar, gotta love convenience) all over. I ended up using about 3 or 4 lemons, and layed lemon slices so that they covered the ribs completely. Baked at 250 for about 2 and a 1/2 hours, then took the lemon OFF, poured Head Country BBQ sauce (the absolute BEST!) all over them, and baked for a little over an hour at 225 degrees. I cannot express how delicious they were, and I am VERY much looking forward to the leftovers tonight! This is now the only way I will prepare pork ribs! Oh, and make sure and serve a little extra BBQ sauce warmed up on the side...especially if you LOVE it as much as I do!!!

Pizza Recipes: New York Style Pizza

Jul 15, 2006 This is a pretty good pizza. I did a few things different. I heated the tomato sauce on the burner with the basil, oregano and added minced garlic. I let the dough rise 2 times, and I encountered a problem as I used waxed paper instead of parchment and it was quite a task to transfer it to my stone (I sprinkled corn meal on the hot stone). I also added cooked italian sausage, mushrooms, grn pepper, and pepperoni and used only about 8 - 10 oz of the cheese. The cooking time 15 mins worked pretty well despite my additions and the stone gave a nice crunchy crust. I'll definitely try it again and will buy some parchment as it could have been a disaster without hubby's help during the transfer!

Deep Fried: Chicken Fried Steak Cuban Style

Sep 12, 2005 Being Cuban, I grew up on "bistec empanizado," but my family's recipe is slightly different from this one. I omit the cumin (which I am not fond of) and the oregano, and substite garlic powder for those seasonings. I sprinkle the steaks liberally with lemon and garlic powder before cooking for best taste. This is the way my grandpa used to make them, and it is the recipe I still swear by, with white rice, black beans, fried plantains and yuca con mojo (cassava root salted and boiled and served with a warm dressing of olive oil, lemon, garlic and onion).

Meatloaf: Asian Style Meatloaf

Nov 03, 2010 My husband, who as a rule, doesn't care for ginger, loved this. I adore ginger, but wasn't crazy about the flavor combination! It was easy and unusual, though, and I'll make it again just because my husband enjoyed it so much. Served it with roasted asparagus topped with toasted sesame seeds and jasmine rice.

Meatballs: Spanish Style Albondigas in a Sunny Mediterranean Sauce

Nov 19, 2012 Hi, recently, Summerpls gave me a great review. I thank her greatly. re the recipe but said too much salt. However, I was confused.!! Salt in the meatballs is to personal taste and per se, there is no salt used in the sauce. So, "que pasa", what happened. 1.---- Bacon/pancetta contains salt in varying degrees. This could affect the flavour depening on bacon used. Some bacon can be extremely salty. Pancetta is not!!!!. 2. ... In cooking the sauce for intensity, which I thought fine, I have discovered that in intensifying, it can give a salt like taste, not salt but intense flavour. I added a touch, to taste, of sugar and mixed well. Problem solved. Turned out great. Possible solution to a, for me, complexing problem. Hope helps any other brave soul trying the recipe. cheers.

Ribs: Asian Style Country Ribs

Sep 18, 2009 This is similar to a popular Korean food called Kalbi, but Kalbi is made with beef, so I think this marinade will work with beef, like round steak. I didn't have lime juice so used lemon instead, and I didn't have Sriracha sauce so I used 1/2 tsp of hot pepper flakes. I marinaded for only 3 hours and then cooked in the oven at 350 for 1 hours (I didn't know I had to marinade it until I was getting to make it for today). It was delicious! My daughter, who just turned two, asked for more after she finished her plate. It probably could have been marinaded a bit longer, but I put leftover marinade juice on the meat (I should also note that I only used 3 boneless meat for the entire marinade). The meat was still tender (not like crock pot tender but tender enough), but I thought it was a little salty so I'll use less soy sauce next time. Overall, it was fabulous!
