Snowball Centerpiece

Keep guests guessing why these “snowballs” aren’t melting as fast as Frosty! For added fun, display them in an attractive ice bowl.

ICE BOWL:

1-quart and 2-1/2-quart freezer-safe glass nesting bowls

Ice cubes

Freezer tape

SNOWBALLS:

3-inch Styrofoam balls

Clear-drying craft glue

White decorator sand

For the ice bowl, fill the 2-1/2-qt. bowl with water. Place the 1-qt. bowl on top so there is about 1 in. of space between the bowls. Fill the smaller bowl with ice cubes. Place freezer tape across both bowls to hold them in place. Freeze overnight.

Remove freezer tape and ice cubes. Fill the 1-qt. bowl with lukewarm water; remove the bowl. Dip the 2-1/2-qt. bowl in water and twist to loosen. Remove the ice bowl and return to the freezer. When ready to use, place the bowl on a platter to catch the water as it melts.

For the snowballs, hold a Styrofoam ball in your hand and push it down on a flat surface. Turn the ball; repeat. Continue to do this until the ball is the shape and size of a snowball.

Coat the ball with glue and immediately roll it in sand. Place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet until dry. Display in the ice bowl.
